IMEFY has signed an agreement with Iberdrola and bp for the manufacturing and supply of the power transformer for Spain’s largest renewable hydrogen production plant.<\/p>\n

A milestone in sustainable electrification<\/h3>\n

IMEFY will supply a three-phase 37 MVA power transformer with a transformation ratio of 66\/30 kV. This equipment will be essential to ensure the proper functioning of the 25 MW electrolyzer that will produce green hydrogen at Iberdrola and bp\u2019s plant in Castell\u00f3n<\/a>. Delivery and commissioning are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n

The trust placed in IMEFY by Iberdrola<\/a> and bp<\/a>, through the Castell\u00f3n Green Hydrogen partnership, highlights the importance of Spanish companies in the development of innovative energy technologies. Impact of the project on the energy transition<\/h3>\n

The Castell\u00f3n renewable hydrogen plant will be the largest in Spain and will be powered by electricity from renewable sources, supplied by Iberdrola through a power purchase agreement (PPA). With an investment exceeding 70 million euros, this facility aligns with industry decarbonization goals by replacing gray hydrogen (produced from natural gas) with green hydrogen, enabling a reduction of 23,000 tons of CO\u2082 annually.<\/p>\n

This development will not only benefit BP\u2019s refinery but could also, in later phases, be extended to key industrial sectors such as ceramics, chemicals, and heavy transport in the Valencian Community. Additionally, the project has received 15 million euros in funding through Spain\u2019s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, supported by NextGenerationEU funds.<\/p>\n

IMEFY\u2019s CEO, Eduardo Fontecha, emphasized the importance of this contract for the company: “The main feature of this transformer is that its power is not standard (37\/33 MVA). However, the most important aspect is its location: the green hydrogen plant in Castell\u00f3n. We already work regularly with Iberdrola and BP, but this project is very emblematic and will provide us with a significant reference both nationally and internationally.”<\/p>\n
