The installation and commissioning of this new Imefy transformer in ENDESA’s Facultats substation will allow the completion of the expansion and reorganization works in the electrical network that supplies the Camp Nou, as well as the future Espai Barça, multiplying up to four times the previous power available.
Barça has a new IMEFY transformer to renew its electrical network
The electrical network that feeds the Camp Nou is considered one of the most powerful and safe in the world, and from now on, it will have the integration of this new transformer designed and manufactured by IMEFY.
It is a Power transformer which already meets the environmental and Ecodesign requirements that are mandatory from July 2021 according to Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1783 of October 1, 2019.
With a high-efficiency cooling system based on a heat exchanger (aerothermal) and forced circulation of dielectric liquid into the Imefy transformer (OFAF system), this large machine is prepared to perfectly dissipate the inevitable losses, although highly reduced, which are generated in the energy transformation process that takes place inside, especially when the transformer installation is underground.
It is a machine with 63 MVA of apparent power in its primary winding of 230 kV and its secondary of 26.4 kV; and 31.5 MVA in its tertiary winding of 11.4 kV.
In addition to satisfying all regulatory requirements, the Imefy transformer has been designed following design guidelines that ensure optimal electromagnetic, electrodynamic and dielectric behaviour, having simulated its behaviour in all these aspects in this design phase, and subsequently verified with the passing of all process controls and final tests such as lightning impulse at 1050 kV, manoeuvre impulse at 850 kV and measurement of partial discharges with values much lower than those requested for 245 kV.
Both in relation to its active part and metal tank as well as the accessories and protections installed in the transformer, IMEFY has applied its standard of use of the highest quality materials and recognized suppliers of the highest level in the sector. With insulating materials manufactured by Weidmann, a + – 13 position on-load tap-changer, manufactured by MR, or plug-in type isolators by the manufacturer Pfisterer, a specific design is complemented with the suitable winding methods so that the windings are capable of supporting any request required by regulations during its long useful life.
