Industrial Engineering students visit IMEFY’s facilities to learn about production processes and explore future collaborations. IMEFY, a leading manufacturer of electrical transformers, opened its doors on Thursday, December 4, to an academic delegation from Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV). The meeting allowed future engineers to learn about the industry’s operations and lay the groundwork for future collaboration between the two entities.
Immersion in the manufacturing process
The UFV delegation was led by Mr. José Luis Herrero de la Torre, professor of Electrical Energy Systems Operation, and a group of third- and fourth-year students from the Industrial Engineering Degree program, specializing in the area of electricity.
The main objective of the visit was to offer students first-hand experience of the various manufacturing processes involved in the different types of electrical transformers produced by IMEFY. During their visit, the students and academic representatives toured the company’s facilities and different departments.
IMEFY’s management team took the opportunity to present the latest advances in transformer manufacturing, highlighting the company’s strong commitment to the principles of Research, Innovation, and Development (R&D&I) that underpin its growth.
Synergies between Francisco de Vitoria University and IMEFY
Beyond the tour of the facilities, the meeting was a first step in identifying significant synergies between the academic training provided by UFV and the demands of today’s job market. Specific working meetings were held to design joint programs that would benefit students.
Among the initiatives explored are the creation of professional internship programs, the mentoring of bachelor’s/master’s degree final projects, and the development of dual training initiatives.
Armando Fontecha Albarrán, one of IMEFY’s CEOs, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for this collaboration:
“We are delighted to open our doors to prestigious educational institutions such as Francisco de Vitoria University. We firmly believe that collaboration between universities and companies is essential to drive innovation and prepare future professionals with the skills demanded by the market.”
For his part, José Luis Herrero from UFV, highlighted the practical value of the event for higher education:
“This visit reinforces our commitment to education that is connected to the professional world. Seeing IMEFY’s operational excellence firsthand allows us to align our curricula and offer high-value practical experiences to our students.”
The day ended with a firm commitment to formalize these agreements in the coming weeks through meetings to finalize the details of future collaborations.
