Environmental performance communication

IMEFY assesses environmental performance on the basis of:

• Legal assessment, where we review compliance with legal requirements associated with our organisation.
• Operational Control Plan for legal requirements, which is monitored periodically and the resulting data is evaluated.
• Analysis of future trends, both in the internal development of new processes, as well as in the analysis of legislative trends.
• Study and processing of all environmental data obtained during the year 2024.

Based on the results of this evaluation, IMEFY’s management prepares a Strategic Action Plan, which it develops:

• Objectives associated with risks.
• Objectives associated with prevention.
• Objectives associated with opportunities for improvement.
• Objectives associated with growth.

IMEFY has developed an operational system for detecting risks and opportunities in order to manage them with a view to their control and monitoring.

As a result of this methodology, IMEFY has certified and verified its Environmental Management Systems in accordance with UNE-EN-ISO 14001 and its Carbon Footprint Calculation in accordance with ISO 14064-1. This ensures compliance in aspects related to:

• Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
• Optimisation of natural resource consumption.
• Control of energy consumption.
• Emission control (Carbon Footprint)

Taking all of the above into consideration, we assess the Organisation’s environmental performance in 2024 as follows:

• Hazardous waste generation has increased in 2024 compared to the average figure obtained in 2022 and 2023 by 15 % overall.
• The generation of non-hazardous waste has increased in 2024 compared to the average data obtained in 2022 and 2023 by a percentage of 8% overall.
• This increase in both cases is justified by both the significant increase in production and the increase in the number of repairs.
• The verified emissions in 2024, corresponding to the year 2023, are as follows:

• Environmental actions carried out in 2024:
  • Registration with MITECO of the Carbon Footprint, obtaining the REDUZCO seal by 2022.
  • Acquisition of 100% renewable electricity with guaranteed origin and endorsed by CNMC.
  • Continuation of the programmed and progressive changeover of lighting to LED lamps.
  • As a result of the Energy Audit carried out in previous years, work has begun on obtaining ISO 5001 Certification.
  • Change of heating system (replacement of gas boilers with radiant ceiling and aerothermal heating).
  • Adherence to SCRAP for the management of PACKAGING.
  • Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration.

For the year 2025 and, assessing the environmental performance of 2024, IMEFY considers acquiring the following commitments:

• Reduce CO2eq emissions by 2% by 2024 compared to 2023.
• To reduce the generation of hazardous waste by 2% globally by 2025 compared to 2024.
• Reduce non-hazardous waste generation by 10% overall by 2025 compared to 2024.
• Continue to ensure the purchase of 100% renewable electricity with a guarantee of origin.
• Register the Carbon Footprint with MITECO for the year 2024.
• Implement measures for energy optimisation in accordance with the proposals made in the Energy Audit carried out in 2023.
• Implementation of SCADA and PME systems that allow us to monitor the use of resources in real time, optimise consumption and guarantee the efficient management of resources.
• Obtaining ISO 50001 Certification.
• Training in sustainability, Circular Economy, etc.
