Imefy, a leading manufacturer of electrical transformers, has been officially recognized with the certificate of registration in the “Reduzco” seal, granted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO). This distinctive mark highlights Imefy’s commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and its commitment to environmental sustainability.
The “Reduzco” seal is part of the carbon footprint registration, offsetting and carbon dioxide absorption (CO₂) projects, a key government initiative to combat climate change. The program is designed for organizations to quantify, reduce and offset their greenhouse gas emissions. There are three types of seals within the scheme: “Calculate”, ‘Reduce’ and ‘Offset’. In Imefy’s case, the “Reduzco” seal certifies that the company has demonstrably reduced its carbon footprint over the last few years.
What does it mean to obtain the “Reduzco” seal?
The “Reduzco” seal aims to encourage companies to adopt measures to reduce emissions through constant monitoring and the implementation of effective strategies. To obtain it, organizations must demonstrate, through verified data, that they have reduced their emissions compared to previous periods, which requires continuous improvement in the efficiency of their production processes and in the use of cleaner energy.
Companies that obtain this seal must have previously calculated their carbon footprint using the “Calculo” seal, which means that they have evaluated their sources of emissions in detail. Once identified, they have implemented concrete measures to reduce them, such as using renewable energies, improving energy efficiency, optimizing material resources and promoting sustainable practices throughout their value chain.
IMEFY’s environmental commitment
Imefy has been working intensively on the adoption of sustainable policies within its industrial operation. Among the actions that have enabled the company to obtain this certificate, the following stand out:
- The implementation of energy efficient technologies in its factories.
- Minimization of waste during production processes.
- The integration of renewable energies, such as solar energy, in its facilities to power its industrial activity.
- Improving internal logistics, reducing transportation-related emissions.
With these measures, Imefy has managed not only to reduce its carbon footprint, but also to optimize the use of natural resources and improve its overall efficiency.
Reduzco” seal in the context of corporate sustainability
Obtaining this seal is an important step for Imefy as part of its long-term sustainability strategy. It also positions the company as a benchmark within the electricity sector, which is moving towards a low-carbon economy. The MITECO initiative is part of a broader effort by Spain to comply with the commitments of the Paris Agreement and move towards the emission reduction targets set out in the European Green Pact.
The recognition with the “Reduzco” seal underlines Imefy’s efforts to be part of this transition, by focusing on innovation in green technology and the development of products that contribute to the decarbonization of the economy.
