On March 2nd, the new French embassy in Libreville, Gabon was inaugurated, a project “that looks to the future”, in which IMEFY wanted to participate and make its contribution within its sector.
An ambitious sustainable project
French President Emmanuel Macron came to the French Residence on the occasion of the “One Forest” Summit to symbolically inaugurate the new French embassy building in Ali Bongo Ondimba.
This building is an ambitious project, a highly ecological construction already certified with the “High Environmental Quality (HQE)” seal.
However, the ambition of the promoters of this futuristic structure is to obtain the “Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)” seal, one of the most demanding in terms of sustainable exploitation and conservation of the forest.
To achieve this, the builders have almost maintained the plants at the location of the new embassy. There are about 8,000 local shrubs, about 30 trees of different species.
The fact sheet of this chancery also indicates that energy and water consumption has decreased considerably, dropping by 88 and 55% respectively “compared to a normal building”. At the same time, construction waste is optimally managed, says the new embassy, which suggests that “plant waste is shredded and recycled in the gardens, while mineral waste is valorized for quarrying in nurseries or masonry work in gardens”.
IMEFY’s contribution to the French Embassy in Libreville
IMEFY has participated in the project of this new French Embassy by supplying the oil transformers that provide the necessary energy required by this new and modern French diplomatic complex in the African country for its optimal operation.
