The IMEFY ZONA 5 TOLEDO First National team has started 2026 in the best possible way after defeating Grupo 76-Alkasar 63–53 last Saturday, securing its second consecutive victory and confirming the positive momentum with which it closed the previous year.

The game, played at the Santa María de Benquerencia Municipal Sports Hall, once again highlighted the team’s progress. The first half was very evenly contested, with both sides showing high intensity and no significant gaps on the scoreboard.

After the break, IMEFY ZONA 5 TOLEDO raised its defensive level and managed to open up a lead of up to ten points. The team then controlled the game with composure, maintaining the advantage through to the final buzzer.

In addition to the win, the team also managed to overturn the head-to-head points difference after the four-point defeat suffered in the first-round meeting, further underlining the importance of the victory against a direct rival.

In this way, the Toledo-based side begins the new year with a win, extending the positive feelings with which it ended 2025.

Before the Christmas break, IMEFY ZONA 5 TOLEDO claimed a home victory at the La Legua Sports Hall against Tecnocasa Prado Marianistas from Ciudad Real, winning 68–56 in a game dominated from start to finish. That result allowed the team to release accumulated pressure and secure its first win in the category against another newly promoted side.

Next objective: overturn a seven-point average

Thanks to these two consecutive victories, IMEFY ZONA 5 TOLEDO moves up one place in the standings and now sits in ninth position, still within the play-out zone but level on points with Academia Basket Albacete, who are due to visit La Legua in the coming weeks. In that matchup, the Toledo side will also look to overturn a seven-point points difference.

After a first half of the season marked by several narrow defeats, the team approaches the remainder of the campaign with confidence and the objective of moving away from the lower end of the table and gradually closing the gap to the play-off positions for promotion.

The month of January will conclude with an away game against CB Criptana and a new home fixture against EBA Albacete two demanding matches in which IMEFY ZONA 5 TOLEDO will aim to keep adding points and, above all, maintain the strong level of performance shown in recent games.
