The government of Benin entrusts IMEFY with the supply of transformers encapsulated in epoxy resin.
IMEFY, with almost 50 years of experience in the manufacture of transformers, is actively involved in the implementation of one of the main projects of the Beninese government, the Abomey-Calavi University Reference Hospital. The company has delivered nine transformers encapsulated in epoxy resin: 1 CRT transformer with a unit power of 400 kVA, 6 with a power of up to 1250 kVA and 2 CRT transformers with a power of 2000 kVA.
Characteristics of the epoxy resin-encapsulated transformers supplied to the Abomey-Calavi University Reference Hospital Centre
Epoxy resin encapsulated transformers are so called because the medium voltage winding is encapsulated in resin. They use both thermal and vacuum treatment. Furthermore, the gelation and polymerisation process is very specific and perfectly controlled.
These transformers, manufactured by IMEFY, are of E2, C2 and F1 quality, especially for particularly unfavourable environmental conditions (presence of humidity, industrial and marine pollution or high risk of fire) and meet all the requirements for their use.
Abomey-Calavi University Referral Hospital Centre (CHUR)
The University Referral Hospital Centre (CHUR) was officially opened in September 2020. Construction work on the Abomey-Calavi Hospital and CHUR has begun and is scheduled to last 36 months, with handover scheduled for summer 2023. This project, for which the Beninese population in general and the government have high expectations, also takes into account the commissioning and training of staff. The government wants to make the CHUR a reference in the West African sub-region and Benin a quality medical care centre with state-of-the-art equipment.
This modern and innovative infrastructure of more than 40,000 m² will be divided into two levels and will include six large hospitalisation units. The technical platform will include three day hospitals, emergency rooms, a laboratory, medical imaging, radiotherapy and nine operating theatres. It will also include teaching areas, staff accommodation, a mortuary and medical, hotel and technical logistics units.
The construction of the hospital is a key project for Benin’s growth and is part of the country’s 2018-2025 National Development Plan, which reconciles economic growth and sustainable development while focusing on reducing poverty and inequality. Indisputably in line with one of the four main axes of the plan: human capital and the well-being of populations, the new hospital centre will facilitate access to basic and better quality care for a large part of the Beninese population. It will also contribute to decongesting the main hospital currently located in Cotonou.
New milestone for IMEFY on the international market
Thanks to the development of manufacturing techniques and the high quality of the materials used, this type of transformer supplied to Benin is increasingly used on the international market.
In addition, their high reliability, low maintenance requirements and minimal environmental impact compared to other distribution transformer models, help us to continue to add projects and develop in the international market.
