Imefy has collaborated with Bouygues Energies & Services in the supply of oil transformers for the complete renovation of the electrical system of the iconic Pont de Normandie, a jewel of French engineering and one of the country’s main tourist attractions.
The renovation project has been carried out with the main objective of improving the reliability of the power supplies for the bridge’s digital signage, lighting and security systems. Imefy has played an essential role in this process, providing state-of-the-art oil transformers to replace the high-voltage equipment, thus ensuring the efficiency and reliability of the electrical system.
The initiative has not only addressed the bridge’s current needs, but has also provided for the creation of a 24/7 on-call service to ensure continuity of service and the safety of users.
The Normandy Bridge, built by Bouygues Travaux Publics as part of the Pont de Normandie consortium, is an architectural feat that has marked the history of engineering in France since its inauguration in 1995. With an imposing length of 2,141 meters and a central span of 856 meters that crosses the Seine River at a height of more than 50 meters, the bridge has significantly improved the flow of road traffic between the two banks without interfering with river navigation to Rouen.
The original project was the occasion for Bouygues Construction to patent the innovative “staircase” thrust technique, which made it possible to build the 700 meters with a 6% slope for the Normandy Bridge. This achievement not only set a world record for the length of the central span, but also highlighted the innovative capacity and technical expertise of those involved.
Imefy is proud to have contributed to the success of this crucial renovation of the Normandy Bridge, reaffirming its commitment to large-scale, sustainable engineering projects around the world. The collaboration with Bouygues Energies & Services has been key to ensuring the efficiency and longevity of this French architectural icon.
