At IMEFY we have published our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Report for the year 2023, included in the 2025 sustainability catalog. This document reinforces our commitment to sustainability, transparency and continuous improvement in environmental management.
A methodology based on international standards
The report has been prepared in accordance with international standards UNE-EN-ISO 14064-1 and ISO/TS 14067, which allow the quantification and communication of the organizational, product and event carbon footprint.
The methodology applied follows the international GHG Protocol standard, which allows us to identify and classify our emissions as direct (such as the use of natural gas or our own transportation) or indirect (such as electricity consumption, external transportation, waste or personnel travel).
Actions carried out during 2023
During the year 2023, IMEFY has developed different initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact:
- Electricity consumption with zero CO₂e emissions, thanks to the combination of certified electricity of 100% renewable origin and energy generated by our photovoltaic plant.
- Signing of a contract with the electric company to guarantee the exclusive supply of renewable energies, with zero-emission certification.
- Continuation of the change of lighting fixtures in the factory, started in 2019, with more efficient technology (except offices).
- Progress in the development of a new ERP planning system, which will allow us to optimize production processes in the coming years.
- Implementation of measures derived from an energy audit carried out in 2023, highlighting the preparation of a new industrial heating system aimed at significantly reducing natural gas consumption.
- Beginning of the procedures for the registration of the carbon footprint in MITECO, with the aim of obtaining the REDUZCO seal during 2024.
Results and environmental objectives within the 2025 sustainability catalog
The total CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) footprint recorded in 2023 was 1,636 tons, split between natural gas consumption, transportation, waste and other operational factors.
In line with our Strategic Sustainability Plan, IMEFY has set a target of reducing CO₂e emissions by 2% during 2024, compared to the base year 2022.
This effort reaffirms our commitment to cleaner, more efficient industrial production that is committed to the global challenges of climate change.
