Shimano, Japan’s world leader in bicycle gears and sprockets, has built a new factory in Singapore with an investment of 150 million US dollars.

Shimano has entrusted IMEFY for its manufacture of high-end drivetrain parts.

Sources from the Japanese manufacturer have confirmed that the company is in the process of expansion. To carry out its development, it is building a facility in the Jurong Innovation District, located in the west of Singapore. Shimano already has a plant in this area.

This new plant will aim to produce high-end drivetrain parts. In addition, it seeks to position itself as “a factory of the future”. For this, the Japanese giant has relied on the use of dry transformers encapsulated in Epoxy resin (Cast Resin Transformers), which are manufactured by Imefy in its factory in Los Yébenes (Toledo).

To carry out this project, Imefy has supplied a total of 8 transformers with different power ratings: from 630 KVA to 2500 KVA. All of them, following the highest quality standards required by the end customer.

Characteristics of the Epoxy Resin Encapsulated transformers supplied to Shimano

Epoxy resin encapsulated transformers are so called because the medium voltage winding is encapsulated in resin. They use both thermal and vacuum treatment. In addition, the gelation and polymerisation process is very specific and perfectly controlled.

In particularly unfavourable environmental conditions (presence of humidity, industrial and marine pollution or high risk of fire), this type of encapsulated dry transformers manufactured by IMEFY meet all the requirements for their use.

We continue to add projects in the international market

Thanks to the development of manufacturing techniques and the high reliability of the materials used, these types of transformers supplied to Shimano are increasingly used in the international market.

In addition, their high reliability, low maintenance requirements and minimal environmental impact compared to other distribution transformer models, help us to continue adding projects and developing in the international market.
